Four Things To Do After You Get Your Car Restoration Project Running

Doing a car restoration project can be a lot of fun. The first priority on your list may be just to get your vehicle running. Once it is in good mechanical condition, you will still have a lot of work in front of you, such as fixing small issues like interiors and painting the car. Here are some of the things that you will want to do after you get your car running again:

1. Repairing Any Damage To Metal Inside Your Car

There may be some damage inside your car that needs to be repaired. This can be the floor pans having holes rusted in them, which can easily be replaced with kits or using sheet metal. Before you move on to other interior repairs, you will want to make sure that any of these problems are solved. You may also want to address problems with things like leaking trunks.

2. Replacing Old, Damaged Carpet And Door Panels

Once the metal work is out of the way, you will be able to move on to the finishing touches. This can include adding new carpets to the floors. You can also replace door panels and interior details like the dashboard. You can finish the necessary parts and leave the less important parts of the interior off until you can get to them.

3. Installing Seats With Modern Seatbelts For Safety

The next step in getting your car road worthy is installing the seats in your ride. These can be stock seats or you may want to choose more modern racing style seats. While you are doing these improvements, you can also install modern seat belts to buckle up and make sure your ride is completely safe.

4. Repairing The Body And Priming And Painting Your Ride

The body of your project may also need to have some repairs done. If there was rust, you may need to patch the body and do repairs. If you live in a climate that is prone to corrosion, you may want to consider a car undercoating to protect your car from corrosive elements like salt, which are common in northern areas because of road salt.
